Fashion Scam: FRANK at the Aifw July 2011

"Zeeman, A famous Dutch low budget textile retailer proves its vision: Fashion does not have to be expensive with a huge stunt at the Amsterdam Fashion Week. " So they say themselves. I haven't seen the show but through the grapevine I heard the clothes were not that good looking. Never mind, they've got their advertising. (You're welcome Zeeman!) The clip above has 100,000 hits on YouTube, and maybe it will have more effect even later on. But how could this happen? Do we really have to believe that only 7 people knew about this scam? Nobody at the Amsterdam Fashion Week new about this? (oops) I'm not going to name the marketing bureau behind this scam, but I think it's a very strange idea. Maybe Aifw should sue Zeeman, that is, if they're not into this scam themselves.......to be continued? (Regards from yours truly, Mimi Drew)

Arnhem really has some nice shops, the streets are quiet and tidy, no roughness here! I came across 3 shops the other day.

Arnhem Coming Soon, filled with Dutch design and - fashion. A very well organized shop with pretty things you sometimes don't find elsewhere. They also have exhibitions, workshops and such. This shop is initiated by Artez and gets municipal support.

Sjaak Hullekes (29) Just opened his first shop a week ago. It's a fairly traditional shop, a friendly buxus tree welcomes you in. Inside you'll find men's and women's clothing by the designer. They sell Ladurée candles as one of the very few shops in the Benelux.

   The interior at Jones (since 1988)I always loved, because of the huge cage with lovebirds, their singing makes you want to sit there all day long. The clothes are nice as well (Margiela, AFVandervorst,Jil Sander Navy, etc) Owner Judith ter Haar is what they call the "DNA" of this store. She is very active in Arnhem's fashion activities (Biennale, Artez). 

These three shops are all situated in the Kerkstraat.

Nudie Cohen passed away in 1984, his famous, beautiful shop closed in 1995. Yours truly once visited this shop in West-Hollywood,  I could have spend an entire day there.

The boots, the shine and glamour...kaboom! Still, when I see his designs I really get exited. Although his style, or western boots for that matter, are not "en vogue" as we speak. I certainly would walk around in them, I sure will, every day, every hour!
